After studying Shaolin kung fu for 10 years, (achieving a 2nd degree black belt), I moved to S.W.France and began studying Ju jitsu.
During black belt preparation, my training partner had to stop due to his health, and I found myself lost in class.
I saw ‘Denen Yoga’ had arrived in Hendaye. To satisfy my curiosity, I thought I’d give yoga a try.
Welcomed by Yoga teachers Xabi Andonegui and Arminda Marrero, I had my first class, and walked home on cloud 9 thinking ‘wow, what just happened?’… From that moment, my yoga journey had begun…
Yoga Interview With Metta Coeur.
Admin: What is your favorite yoga practice and how does it benefit your life?
Metta Coeur: Ashtanga Primary Series: My practice calms my mind and strengthens my body. I can honestly say I am happier, and more patient person after practice.
Admin: What does Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga has to give the world that is unique?
Metta Coeur: It has many health benefits and can be practiced by anyone, of any shape, size, age and from anywhere in the world.
Admin: According to you what are the greatest health benefits of Yoga?
Metta Coeur: For me, health benefits are both physical and mental. Yoga can help purify, cleanse, strengthen and relax the body… Not forgetting calm the mind.
Admin: Which technique is more beneficial from Asana, Pranayama, Mantra and Meditation? Why?
Metta Coeur: I don’t believe one technique to be more beneficial than another. It depends on the individual and what technique benefits you the most during your practice and yoga journey.
I practiced yoga before, during and after two pregnancies. Whether be it an Asana, pranayama, Mantra or Meditation. Everyone is different, every day is different, our needs change and as we evolve, so does our practice.

Admin: Important Yoga props and accessories you recommend for Yoga learner or beginner.
Metta Coeur: I think there is a lot to be said for a yoga block. Sitting on a block can improve alignment and posture.
Admin: What can someone expect to experience in a Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga session?
Metta Coeur: In simple terms: Coordinating movement with breath, whilst flowing from one pose to another.
However, if you’re trying Hatha/Vinyasa yoga for the first time, my advice would be not to over think what you may or may not experience. Just go with an open mind, be ready to learn and enjoy!
Admin: What advice would you give yoga beginners to motivate themselves?
Metta Coeur: Find a practice (and yoga teacher), that works for you. Once you feel the benefits of your practice, you will be motivated to step back onto your yoga mat time and time again.
Admin: Please share some information about your brand, books or about your website.
